詩人簡(jiǎn)介

約瑟夫·羅德雅德·吉卜林 (Joseph Rudyard Kipling)， 1865年12月30日－1936年1月18日，生于印度孟買，英國(guó)作家及詩人。主要著作有兒童故事《叢林奇譚》（The Jungle Book，1894年）、印度偵探小說《基姆》（Kim，1901年）、 詩集《營(yíng)房謠》（Gunga Din，1892年）、短詩《If—》（If—，1895年）以及許多膾炙人口的短篇小說。他是英國(guó)19世紀(jì)至20世紀(jì)中一位很受歡迎的散文作家，被譽(yù)為“短篇小說藝術(shù)創(chuàng)新之人”。于 42 歲，1907 年獲得諾貝爾文學(xué)獎(jiǎng)，是英國(guó)第一個(gè)諾貝爾文學(xué)獎(jiǎng)獲得者。曾有很多人譴責(zé)吉卜林，說吉卜林在對(duì)印度殖民地生活的描繪中，經(jīng)常表露出對(duì)殖民主義的支持，認(rèn)為沒有歐洲大國(guó)的幫助，印度等殖民地國(guó)家就不能生存。

If you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you；

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you，

But make allowance for their doubting too；
